Paracosm: Bleath: The Hauntings by Anya Allyn

Zoe is a level-headed student with two reasons for her field trip to Bleath. The first is to study a group of children who suffer from paracosms, the second is to put some distance between her and her cheating ex. Bleath isn’t the town that she expected it to be, in fact, it’s far more dangerous than she could ever have imagined.

This story is mind-blowing and I steamed through the pages willing Zoe to find the truth. I couldn’t have guessed the ending in a million years, the story was so full of twists and turns. Zoe is a clever character but even so it takes her a long time to uncover the sickening truth. The reader is left in the dark along with Zoe, not knowing who to trust. There are some really tense moments in there.

This story is spooky, full of suspense, and steeped in mystery, and although I would never have guessed the ending, I thought it was a brilliant finish.
