Jonah is more than a little disorientated when he wakes up but finding out that he’s stuck in a lighthouse on a tiny island for the next six months does little to reassure him. When the only other inhabitant, Sticks, gives him a list of rules Jonah wants to rebel but the island is out to get him.
This book is full of mystery and myths. Jonah’s character is shallow, to begin with but we learn more about him toward the end of the novel. It wasn’t always easy to follow but once I’d started I needed to see it through to the end and I’m glad I did. I still don’t think that I understood everything including the description of the building but it certainly gave me something to think about.
