Words’Worth: a fiction writer’s guide to serious editing by Jane Riddell

This book is incredibly valuable if you are writing, editing, or publishing. For an indie author, it is even more so. It provides a logical set of steps with explanations and examples of how to edit prose professionally. It is a serious guide, as the title suggests because it gets into the business of it. Checking for spelling and grammar mistakes are the very tip of the iceberg whereas Riddell shows us how to check for pace, overwriting, time and space, panning, and everything else required to make the best of that piece.

This is a book you will want to read many times over and maybe even take notes and highlight parts. It is easy to follow and the explanations and examples are chosen well. It gave me plenty to think about.
