Dearest Ivie (Black Dagger Brotherhood #15.5) by J. R. Ward

Author’s Synopsis

The last place Ivie expects to be approached by a devastatingly handsome male is in a crowded, smoky cigar bar rarely frequented by vampires-yet here he stands. Silas is flirtatious, gallant, and, above all, mysterious. Ivie is anything but. A nurse at the healer’s clinic and the daughter of a biker, Ivie is accustomed to speaking her mind. So she does. Since aristocrats rarely pick up females of her class, Ivie asks Silas just what kind of game he thinks he’s playing.

Despite her guarded exterior, Ivie surrenders to the fierce desire she feels for Silas. And yet, just as their courtship is heating up, he reveals that it cannot last, for he is bound to return to the Old Country. Their bond only deepens as they make the most of their precious time together. But when she learns the truth, Ivie must find a saving grace-before all is lost. . .

My Views

Before settling down to read this book grab a box of tissues because you will cry, there is no escape. Ward is renowned for creating super-sexy characters and steamy hot bedroom scenes but don’t underestimate her ability to pull on your heartstrings.

Ivie is a strong female lead, and this is a common feature in Ward’s novels but if you are familiar with the Black Dagger series, you will love hearing from the other side. Ivie is a regular vamp without a title and designer wardrobe. Silas is your typical glymera hottie but with a vulnerable side that just makes the reader melt.

I’m hoping to see more additions like this to the Black Dagger world because I can’t get enough of it.

Blood Fury (Black Dagger Legacy #3) by J. R. Ward

Novo doesn’t need a man to make her strong, she wrote the book on female independence but she seems to have one large weakness. Peyton’s aristocratic focus is off centre and he can’t seem to keep it in check even when the stakes are high. Saxton’s broken heart begins to heal but the fates may have other plans.

This all-action episode in the Brotherhood mansion has plenty of suspense and a boatload of heartache so be prepared, there will be tears. Ward has built a vast world filled to the brim with alpha males of all kind and then topped it up with strong females.

I don’t think I’ve come across such addictive stories before, I can’t wait to read the next one.

Blood Fury

The Accidental Sire (Half-Moon Hollow #6) by Molly Harper

Who plays ultimate Frisbee with weights, anyway?

When a vampire game turns into a tragedy at a human-vampire mixer, Megan finds herself turning to the vamp side. That near death experience is the beginning of a run of bad luck for Megan and anyone who gets close to her. Between Jane’s expert guidance and her newfound skills, not to mention a new on-off boyfriend, can Megan get to the bottom of the mystery that she has become?

This is another great example of Harper’s work. A mixture of sweet, sexy, and funny with an extra dose of Southern humour and you’ve got a great read. I’m even getting used to the freaky child vampire with the psychotic tendencies. The only thing I will say about this author is that she doesn’t write quick enough, I’m ready for the next instalment.

Accidental Sire

Blood Vow (Black Dagger Legacy #2) by J. R. Ward

When Axe joins the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s Training program he intends to stay at arm’s length from the others especially Peyton and his Glymera pals. When a chance meeting throws him in the path of the lovely Elise all bets are off. Not only does he become her bodyguard, but he also finds a connection that he’d never believed was possible.

This is not just a romance but a coming of age novel. Axe finds more out about himself than he knew existed and becomes a valuable member of the team through his brave actions. Elise is yet another strong female as per Ward’s usual style but her character is also determined and challenging. The bond between the pair is strong but the reasons for them not to be together are getting in the way, causing a friction for all those around.

The story is yet another beautifully romantic episode to the Black Dagger Legacy with its intricately crafted world and amazing full-bodied characters.

Blood Vow

The Beast (The Black Dagger Brotherhood series #14) by J. R. Ward

Not everyone in the Black Dagger Mansion has a t-rex for an alter ego and sometimes allowances need to be made but when Rhage stops listening to his brothers on the battlefield something needs to be done. Mary seems to have her own problems back at Safe Place and she isn’t ready to drop them. Can the pair open up before it’s too late?

This book makes a beautiful addition to the Black dagger Brotherhood series. Rhage, beauty and the beast all wrapped into one, is on the verge of discovering something but being a typical male he is happy to hide it under the proverbial carpet.

Ward has managed to not only keep this series alive, but she has found a way to keep each novel in it compelling. This isn’t an easy feat this far down the line and this story just proves her dedication to her work.

Grab the tissues, it’s going to get a little emotional.
